Wow! It just goes straight to "allegorical" right off the bat, doesn't it?
What if it does contradict the moral values of your community and its not in the Old Testament? You need another arrow for "interpret it away with another verse" or some such.
I mean if its in the epistles -- obviously in the gospels you could just say allegory, but how do you make a statement in an epistle an allegory?
